Debbie's interest in reading and writing began in childhood. Her favorite gifts were books, and she would often enjoy making up stories and telling them to her family and whoever would listen before she could write them down. She spent the latter part of her teens filling notebooks with stories and typing some of them on the electric typewriter she used for business school where she trained as a secretary. When she went to college a few years later, where she majored in English, she was Features editor of the college newspaper and then publisher of her library school graduate newsletter. While working as a reference librarian for a public library on Long Island, Debbie began writing freelance articles for magazines and published a short story in a mystery anthology in 2001. After taking a break from writing for awhile when she had her daughter in 2004, Debbie joined the virtual world Second Life in spring, 2007 as writer Dulcie Mills for the Metaverse Messenger covering Info Island News for librarians in Second Life. In January 2008, she heard of plans for a Second Life library magazine and joined what is now RezLibris Magazine as the Associate Publisher. In November, 2008, she contracted with Booklocker.com to publish her romance novel, "Cloudy Rainbow." |
